PE Activities and Sports Premium Funding

Forest School

We are very proud to be a Forest School where your child will develop outdoor and adventurous skills and experience a wide variety of multisensory experiences within the natural environment.

Possible activities may include:

• Hunting for minibeasts, • Natural crafts – making necklaces from elder, crowns or dream catchers from willow, collages from natural materials, weaving with long grasses, making tree cookies, • Mud Painting and sculptures, • Digging, • Shelter building and knot tying, • Using tools for a purpose – such as peeling bark from sticks with potato peelers to make toasting forks, • Fire building and cooking on a camp fire.

Sessions are planned around individual and group needs, and built upon each week.

Forest School Activities beyond the School Grounds

Sports Premium Funding

We use our Sports Funding to enhance activities both within and beyond the school day. We provide a range of activities to meet the needs of 'sporty' children and those who prefer less traditional activities.

Sports Premium Funding has made a big difference to PE and sport participation:

All pupils from age 4 learn to swim, all KS2 pupils represent the school in competitions against other schools, we hold and have regularly defended the McCain trophy for regional running participation, 95% of pupils age 4 to 11 regularly take part in an extra-curricular sports club.

Sports Premium Funding has made a big difference to PE and sport attainment:

Our most recent swimming assessments show Year 6 pupils could swim continuously an average distance of 680m, pupils have won the Fair Play Award at inter-school competitions and many pupils play sport for local teams beyond the school day.
